‘Rule Based Themes’ – a wordpress plugin

By Craig Rowe on

To facilitate the lovely changes to the barn image in the header we needed a way to switch the body class element based upon either dates/times or a weather api call. To do this I created a simple wordpress plugin that allows the user to create the rules they want and then call rbtme_get_theme() to get the relevant class inside their templates.

For more info and to download the plugin for yourself checkout the links below:

Thanks! Will try out this WordPress plugin soon!

I really like the pixel header on this blog and that I can see what’s the weather like at your place and what you guys are doing. ;-)

Maybe you don’t know, but Dunstan Orchard had a similar idea some time ago on his blog 1976design.

Hey Georg, Yeh Ed talks about Dunstan as one of his inspirations here: http://barn.headscape.co.uk/articles/barn-pixel-header/

Hope the plugins useful to you – not sure how many people really want to change their site like this in fear of it being gimicky

Hi Craig, nice, haven’t read that post yet!

Hope I soon find the time to play with the plugin. And you are right, one can overdo using it. But let’s see! :-)

Happy Easter to you and the whole Headscape team!
And looking forward reading more interesting blog posts here!
